For account security, users requesting assistance from the Technology Services Help Desk with any of the following services will need to verify their identity:
- Multifactor authentication resets
- Password resets
To verify your identity for in-person assistance:
- Visit the Technology Services Help Desk in person.
- The person requesting the account reset must be the owner of the account.
- Please bring a valid official identification document with your name and photo.
- Acceptable documents include, but are not limited to:
- Student ID
- State driver’s license or ID
- Workplace ID
- Passport
To verify your identity using an Okta push notification:
- Call the Technology Services Help Desk.
- Let the Help Desk staff know that you would like to use an Okta push notification to verify your identity.
- The Help Desk staff will send a push notification to your Okta Verify app.
- Open the Okta Verify app on your device.
- Select "Yes, it’s me" to approve the verification request.
- Once the push notification has been approved, the Help Desk staff can continue assisting with your request.
To verify your identity for remote assistance:
- The Technology Services Help Desk may ask you to join a video meeting to confirm your identity.
- You will need to show your physical identification document and your face during the video meeting.
- The Help Desk will first try to use university-approved apps when possible.
- If needed, other video meeting options may be used, such as:
- Zoom
- Teams
- Google Meet
- FaceTime
- WhatsApp
- Once your identity has been verified, the Help Desk can continue assisting with your request.
